Seven Ontario Players Named to Canada U19 Men’s

Team for Canada

August 2003 the Ontario Under 18 Representative team won the gold medal at the Rugby Canada National Championship Festival held in Winnipeg Manitoba. The U18’s defeated British Columbia 13-0 in the championship game.

This ended a 22 year domination of this category by British Columbia. Considerable credit for this success goes to the coaching staff. Paul Connelly, Uxbridge HS, Brock RFC, Paul Ambrose, Laurier Collegiate, Balmy Beach RFC, Chris Silverthorn, Rugby Ontario Youth Development Officer, Lindsay RFC, and Les Gilson, Fitness and Strength Coordinator, Brock University.
Eleven players were selected for the tryouts held in February in Vancouver, from those tryouts the team was selected with seven Ontario players making the U19 Canadian team for the 2004 World Cup to be held in Durban, South Africa.
